I planted another letterbox today at the top of an extinct volcano. This
one's not so easy... expect blood loss.

Stamper,
Blood loss! Cooooooool! I'm sure we'll get Letterboxing into the
"X-Games" as an "extreme" sport eventually! I can see it now...{in
announcer voice} "Stay tuned. After this break we'll bring you cliff
diving, street luge, and ex-treeeeeeeeeeeeeme letterboxing."
heh heh
P.S. I really like the stamp for the Powell Butte letterbox.

Yahoo! Can't wait to jump into those blackberry brambles! It will be just
like when I was a wee lass...
I have carved a new personal stamp! It is a little mexian figure and it says
"Duende" which is what I was called when I lived in Mexico. It means
loosely "Elf" or "Mischeivious spirit". Kevin and I may try to finally get
our 5 boxes out to Oxbow this weekend. I have a question... How do we scan
the stamps and get them to you so they can show up on the clues? I am
computer semi-literate ;)

Hey Erik, that's not a bad idea! Kevin and I are going hiking really near
there in a beautifully old growth forest tomorrow, presumably to find a
beautifull spot to start writing our wedding vows...maybe a letterbox there
would be an excellent idea. Are there any in Washington yet, I don't
remember...

Erik, I have a scanner in my office, er cubicle, really, so scanning will be
easy if someone shows me how...what do I do next?
If ever I go to Vermont (Michigan is the farthest east I've ever been) I
will surely hunt for the boxes there. Isn't that where Ben & Jerry's ice
cream is from? Another good reason to go to Vermont!

Cara:
What is the chance that you will visit my Vermont Boxes, so I can see
"Duende" first hand?
Anyhow, it sounds as tho it is a perfect personal stamp - congrats! I am
still working one - and I've been involved this as long as anyone (that
is, of us in the USA), so, good for you!
Send impressions of your stamps to any of several people who have
offered to scan - including me if you like. As my scanner is a cheapie,
and black-and-white only, stamp with a dark color. I'd be happy to help
you out.
And 5 new boxes to boot. Wow!

Cara, Well, a volcano is auspicious, you know, fire, weddings, etc. When
Sue and I married, the reception was at our home (11 years tomorrow!).
Done just the way we wanted, fiddles and concertinas playing contra
dances and waltzes on the lawn. Just as the party was winding down, a
massive downpour came, and lightning set the ridge across the way on
fire - burned for 3 days. Yup, the best weddings are forged in fire.
Congrats to you both. For sure, a letterbox stamp is in order, altho
we'd all understand if the hiding place was reserved to be your own
little secret!
As for the scans - save as a GIF file, and attach to an e-mail with the
clues, to I guess Randy or Mitch (jump in here, guys if I am incorrect).
Ben and Jerrys? Well, there are now more cows on T-shirts than in the
fields these days. We all remember when B & J's was a little showstring
operation in an abandoned gas station, making batches in a little
electric machine in the window. It's a tad yuppiefied, but, still as
good! But, there are oddles of reasons to come to VT, especially Tom's
and our letterboxes (and a really GREAT lake!).
